Default Carbon Fiber or Fiberglass

i know i havent posted in a while but i was just curious. as far as hoods go, does it Matter if you go with carbon fiber or fiberglass? reason why i ask is b\c i found a hood i want, i can choose the material type (fiberglass is of course cheaper). the hood IS getting painted to match the color of the car so as far as covering up carbon fiber is concerned i could careless. i like the styling of the hood and have for a while now. yes i know the stock hood is light enough as it is but like i said i really like the look of the hood and would like to add something to slightly change the cars appearance.

what do you mean by better? Carbon fiber will be stronger, but if either one gets damaged, it is not repairable, it must be replaced. If you are not going to leave any cf exposed and money is an issue, go with fiberglass.

yea thats what i was getting at. durability wise (even though i dotn plan on damaging it. i just dont want a small rock chip from teh highway to send a massive spider crack thru the damn thing)

Why can't fiberglass hoods be repaired? Corvettes and my front bumper have been getting repaired for years.

i would just get the fg since its cheaper...i mean your gonna paint it and there is no substantial weight loss if any from the stock hood...

You repair fiberglass with more fiberglass and very little filler.

Depends on who is making the carbon fiber... it may or may not be stronger. If it's wet CF, there's definitely no weight savings, and you'll know when it's dry CF as you'll pay through the nose (and maybe a few other orifices). If you plan on painting the entire thing, go FG... if you'd like a bit of contrast, so CF and leave small portions (like vents) bare.

^^

Also, unless you are getting dry carbon, it's not going to be much (if any) stronger or lighter than FG. Only reason to go CF would be for cosmetic reasons.
