What about a valid driver's license?

//steve\\ 02-25-2010 08:25 AM

I actually don't think they check for Driver's license.

I did one of these back in October or November last year and it was a blast. I'm not sure how I'm looking for this next one. Definitely plan to make at least two or three of them this year.

This is being held at Xi (Blackwater) so visitors are treaded as if going on a military installation.

I see. :thumbup:

And typically they do not allow spectators to this event. I know for the last one or two you were allowed to bring one person as your "crew" and that was it.

Jack_in_the_Box 02-25-2010 12:50 PM

No I see what beepbeep was getting at. I'm having my "crew" partner drve my car and I to the event and I'll be driving once I get there.

FF2Skip 02-25-2010 12:53 PM

Can't see all parts of the first post, but sorry, I wouldn't send anyone a copy of my birth certificate.

S2KRyan 02-26-2010 06:50 AM

I'm so excited esp. after missing the one in Dec. due to snow.

FF2skip, if you are interested in talking with the person running this event to give you some assurance that youre info will be protected, I can get you a personal number for him. I'm a good friend of his and he's been doing these events for 6 or 7 months now and has never had a problem with peoples info getting trashed.

FISH22 02-27-2010 07:56 AM

Does it matter if you're active duty, or do you still have to send a copy of a Birth Cert.?

I believe you still have to send a copy. Being that Blackwater isn't an actual military installation, they just go by all the same rules and guidelines. At least I believe. Pirate Dan can tell you better than I.

For reference b/c I think I'm 1 of 2 s2k guys that have actually driven the track it's not terribly high speed. When I was there we ran the shorter course which is pretty much the section on the right and I think the fastest I got was maybe 75. I'd say my average speed was between 50-60 maybe a little faster. That sections I ran on could be done almost entirely with 3rd gear. Only two corners I had to go down to 2nd for.

My only gripe about the entire thing and this is just fair warning so you know what you are getting into is the guys drifting are running on the same course so be prepared to find some gravel and dirt on the track at a few corners. It was like that for a better part of the day when I went and although it wasn't in critical high speed corners it definitely forced you to go slower through them than what was possible.

For the cost though it was great fun. I had a lot more fun that I have doing autocross....probably mostly b/c I didn't have to do any work just go out and have fun. Not sure I'll make it to this one in March but I definitely plan on going again.

pictars of said fun

Who all is going to this?

//steve\\ 03-13-2010 10:02 AM

As far as I know nobody from here. I won't get to this one but maybe another.

x4thGenCafe 03-13-2010 10:10 AM

i would like to go out to shoot this . . no info such as directions or address or price for spectators ?

Jack_in_the_Box 03-13-2010 02:12 PM

unfortunately there are no spectators and even more so, teh event was moved back to april 25th bc it clashed with VIR's nasa event that day.

if you want to shoot the event, you're more than welcoem to ride as a "crew" member in either ryan's or my car. thats usually how people go so they can take photos and video.

x4thGenCafe 03-14-2010 07:01 AM

i see . .

TPJ 03-14-2010 11:23 AM

It's $100 per driver, and each driver can bring ONE additional "crew" member for an addition $25 fee. EJ is correct though, the date has been moved back to April. Both the driver and crew member must complete the background check though.
