Mechanic to do valve retainer replacement near Richmond, VA?
Hi all,
As of about a month ago, I'm the owner of a gorgeous 2001 yellow s2000! I've been wanting this car since I was a kid, and I'm very excited to finally be the owner of one (not to mention, this is my first car that cost me more than $1000 haha).
Anyways, I know there's another thread on here about mechanics in Richmond, but none of them seem to do valve work. Naturally, the Honda dealership in the area claims that they need to remove the cylinder head to replace the valve retainers, so they'd charge me about $1300-1500 to do the replacement.
Does anybody know of an affordable mechanic in the area that would give me a reasonable quote on replacing the valve retainers (and more importantly, I can trust to do the work correct)? I already bought the 8 retainers and 16 keepers/cotters, and now I'm just looking for someone I can trust to replace them.
Thanks for all your help!
Matt

On top of PapiChuloNica's question, do you know if he's done the valve retainer replacement in the past? Could you provide the name or contact information of his repair shop?

Cory is the man. First, he grew up wrenching on cars and his dad owns the shop where he works. Second, he's an S2K owner. I think all of us (within a certain radius) take our cars to him for the things we can't do ourselves. I probably could have done my turbo install, but honestly, I trust Cory with my car more than I trust myself. You will find and endless number of vouches for him on S2Ki Mid-A.

Just wanted to throw out a quick plug for Cory! He was very friendly and accommodating, and got the work done even faster than expected. Wouldn't hesitate for a second to bring my car back to him if anything should go wrong with my s2000 (knock on wood!)
