Default Sis is lookin' for a new car...

So, my sister is in the market to get a car.
She's a sophomore in college and is looking to get something somewhat new (within the past year or 2) that is under $17k.
She likes the Nissan Rogue and also likes the Altima (not sure why she's stuck on Nissans). They both seem like good cars, and she can get both of them used for under $17k.

Does anyone have any experience with either model from the past 2 years?

Does anyone have any other recommendations?

Does anyone work at a dealership that might be able to help out?

Thanks in advance!!!

Anyway, she doesn't really have anything too particular in mind. She's not that big of a car fanatic. I guess something that would stereotypically fit a college girl.
Nothing too big, so I think an SUV would be out, but a crossover would be a good fit.
She would also be into a sporty sedan. Something like the Altima or Mazda3.

I would recommend Mazda 3. I used to have one a year ago and it's a wonderful car to drive and I never had problem with it. The 05 or 06 was the number 1 car in its class by MT magazine and by most car magazines actually.

The only reason I sold it, because I saw the S2000.

Why not get her a Fit? Good gas mileage, more affordable than both of those cars listed.

In any event, I rented a Altima in Vegas. Drove nice, seemed well put together. The CVT was a little weird if you are not used to that.

you should post what her needs are. altima/rogue is as wide a range as you r going to get.
you should also mention how things like mpg, maintenance, looks, space play into a factor in the decision

Yeah, all the information I got before was 2nd hand through my parents.
I talked to my sis and she's pretty set on the Rogue. Likes the looks, that it sits up a little higher than a sedan, gets good mileage, and has decent interior space.
