Sweet Video

After I spend some time actually enjoying instead of working on my S2000 I think I will probably pick up a C6 Z06 and slap on a F1-SC.

You would have to be insane to spend over $65-$70 on a GT-R. Get under the hood and really look at the details and you will see that it is not a Supercar just a fast car.

You could buy a ZR1, 911, Used Ferrari, GT40, M5, Used Astin Martin, Lotus or my favorite R8. You could even buy a used GTR to drive everyday in the rain and snow then keep your S2000 for nice days and to race.
fully agreed. The GT-R was priced right in 08...$ 65-72k is all that car is worth...yes, it is quick for a pig and it almost makes you feel pigs can fly. I drove one in Summit Point but it is NOT as fast as a Z06...period. It is easier to drive, yes, but, in 10' they bumped the price about $ 10k...so now you will have to pay $ 84k to get into one.

Anyone that would pay MSRP or higher for a GT-r needs to get their brain checked for damage...Dallas, Chicago and any southwestern state has plenty of them at sticker - why a dealer is trying to get 20k over sticker is beyond me, but, again, we all know that your "average" car salesperson has the IQ of a turtle with 2 legs (no idea what that means).

Due to the economy, my "bet" about holding off from buying a car until December 2010 is off...so now I am free to buy whatever I want...LOL. GTr is on the radar, but, I would NEVER buy a car for more than sticker...NEVER, even if I won the freakin' lottery.

I have thought about throwing in a blower on the Z...I would make another 150rwhp on it...but, what exactly do you do with all that? A 492rwhp Z06 can hang in top end with just about anything...unless you are making in excess of 700rwhp...and the only people that I know are making that much power, never come out to play.

I enjoy tracking the car...a blower is NOT going to make the car any faster on the track...the 2 seconds you will gain on the straight away, you will loose on the corners. The Z already has enough torque to keep you on your tip-toes through the slaloms...give it too much and she will punish you by slipping from underneath you like a buttered up surf board.

If I do anything to the Z it would be a H/C package - and some needed upgraded brakes. Here is what it feels inside the Z...with pretty much stock power. It takes everything I have to keep the car under control...now, don't get me wrong, I am pushing her to the limits and if the car is driven properly and on the edge, there is nothing out there that can beat it. Also, this is on the stock GY runflats, which are absolute crap...might as well grab your wheels and put concrete/cement around them...then drive the car.

2:32 - 240 is my favorite part - look how much constant steering correction you have to give the car in order for it to keep it from spinning... LOL
I love the Z, I actually bought a 05 Viper convertible on eBay for a coworker with 5,000 miles on it in late 06. We got tickets and flew in to Chicago 2 days later; they picked us up in a newer 7 series and took us back to the dealership. I walked the car and there was no damage but I was really not impressed with the fit and finish. While he was talking to the salesman, I looked over 4 0r 5 of the 10-15 Vipers they had and it was actually better than most. So we got the keys to make sure there were no real issues and as soon as he hit the gas I was waiting for that massive torque and it never really came. In the corners the car was felt uneasy but never let go, it was just not that fun to drive. So we proceeded to go back o the dealer and tell them they could keep it. I had noticed a 800 mile 06 Z on the lot and we started to really look it over. Even though Chevy gets a lot of crap the fit and finish was much better than the Viper. After that all it took was a few mile drive and he was sold. Now, we had driven C5 Header and Cam Z06's, he had a Header and Cam C6, ATI D1SC LS1 Trans Am

Angel, I think you should ditch the Viper. Your 'car personality' is to buy a car to drive it, and drive the hell out of it, and that Viper doesn't seem to fit the mold. I think you would enjoy the GT-R more.

Just my .02.

EDIT: Do the heads and cams to the Z. The sound alone with that done is nucking futs. The gains are reasonable, and with your driving, I am sure you can handle the extra hp/tq

But, I can tell you that I would be as or more interested in a CTS-V, DKG E92 M3, Sell the Z and Viper and get an R8 hell even a GT500 with a Whipple and other goodies would be fun.

An R8???????????? ROFL. A mere C6 would put the whoopin' on it and I would not be able to live with myself.

A GT500 is a pig..., but GTR proofed pigs can fly...but seriously...the only Ford product I would get today is a Ford GT, and even that gets spanked by a mere Z06...so, no.

I drive the M3 hard...and I drive the Viper hard too...so the cars are being driven. The only problem with an $ 85k Nissan is that, now you can buy a used Modena 360 and still have $15 sitting in the bank to address all the issues you will have to address that come with Ferrari ownership (puke)...well, at least for a years' worth...LOL

The only way I can sell the Z is to replace it for something that does what the Z does better...carves corners better and is faster, and has warranty...short of a GT2 997, there is nothing (remember the 5 year, 100k mile drive train warranty as well)...70k Z06 or 240k GT2...or 150k Zr1, which looks just like a regular Z06...

Yeah, the R8 is not faster but it is hands down the cheapest supercar, you think you get looks in the Viper I am sure you would see a few broken necks in the Audi

Gt500 with a 3.4L Whipple will lay down 800-900hp which would be fun, just to have.

What is wrong with the new CTS-V, I would drive one. With all my cross country jonts it would be a nice.

There is nothing that can touch the Z06 within $50-$75 of the cost. In my eyes the GTR is nearly maxed out and the Z is an open pallet. I have never been a big Ferrari fan so the only other car I can mention is the GT-40. Now, it may be a bit ruff but with a 3.4 Whipple and some other goodies 1000HP can be real. Then add to it the looks, I have a thing for the flare of the 60's and this near the top of my list.

If you buy one used you can get a reasonable price on the E90 and E92. My coworkers DKG transmission is unreal, it shifts smoother faster and harder than anyone I have ever seen. Couple that to one of the best sounding and fun to rev V8's and you have a nice package. I don't know if it is any better than the CTSV though.

I will have to hit the track in the wifes STI since it is not done and meet you some day. From what I hear you are our local S2KI Stig.

You have me thinking about other cars and I need to be focusing on actually finishing mine, I should be ashamed.
