Default Anyone looking into some new IPOs?

I didn't get into the VMW IPO (although I got it at opening and sold off at 76) I'm curious if anyone has any intersting IPOs on the horizon. I don't know much about IPOs (I know what they are and all) but don't know how they work in terms of sales (do all brokers have different IPOs, etc.)

Comments/Suggestions always appreciated.

ATHN just IPO'd yesterday. It is doing pretty well. IPO'd at 18 but the avg joe could only get it at 28. Also VISA will be IPOing sometimes in early 08. IPOHome.com is a good source of info.

Can you buy a certain IPO from any broker, or is it sort of like an iphone....that certain brokers have this one, and other brokers have this one, etc....(basically, exclusive to one broker)?

Sorry to dig this up, but I have a question if someone can chime in.

I have the opportunity to buy into the IPO of my (local) bank. They are selling at $10.00/share. I think they'll mail me some certificates...so my questions are, how do you go about selling something like that (when I want to unload), and is there a limit as to how long I've got to hold onto it? I read the (200+page) book that came to me in the mail, and I didn't see anything about that.

Thanks.

You have major guts to be buying shares of a local bank in this current economic environment.

Oh, I didn't buy any yet...and it wouldn't be more than $500.00.
But I see your point.
EDIT: I actually didn't vote for the "conversion" because I don't want them to go public.

Depends on how it's structured. You may be restricted as to when you could do it. If you are asking these basic questions I suggest you seriously research this, $500 is still money.
