You are supposed to have 6 months to a year of living expenses in an emergency account. I have access to a year's worth, half is in cash, other is in taxable mutual funds/money market.

I have a credit line worth one year's salary and 10% of that amount in cash. If I go down I'm taking someone with me.

Nomally, I'd try and keep about 6 mo of living expenses in cash, and the rest invested in securities. But with the market the way it is, I have probably almost 2 yrs worth of expenses in 100% liquid cash right now earning 3.5% (which is basically losing me money at the moment).

I've started nibbling at securities again in July, Aug, and last week. But I don't plan on reinvesting the majority of my savings until the market takes a clearer direction.

$3.87; same as Elistan.

That's considerably less than 60% of my net annual salary, however.

I keep no less than 10% of my yearly salary in a high yield savings. I usually range from 12-15%.
