Who has started a biz & hit a million/yr+ in revenue?

Just curious if anyone here has been there, done that ... And what you learned / advice for others trying to make it happen ...

Thx!
Thomas

lots and lots of hours, dedication, not giving up, not taking no for an answer, sometimes needs money, sometimes not.

Also while revenues are nice, they're not the end of the story and definitely not a single measure of success. It's a great measure for scale, but I know lots of people that bring in millions (plural) and because of crappy industries/economic climate/whatever, they're not turning much profit if at all...

what Don said, revenue is one thing but money in your pocket is a totally different thing.

There are websites for local meetups (literally www.meetup.com) in your industry and I have gotten many contacts and clients through those. Its a cheap, grassroot way to build a business and contacts in your field of work. Im not sure where you are in your business, but if you are just starting, this is the best advise I can give you to find people that will become your clients or will just want to help you succeed. Entrepreneurs are welcoming people and karma is definitely real for startups. You never know who will remember you and bring you business or invest in your company down the road.

Have you started your business already or are you looking for inspirational stories to give you the push to start your business? If you haven't started the business yet, I'd suggest to put down the success story books and get all of your business licensing/operational stuff out of the way. Once that is in place you can actually start doing business. I dont want that to come off like a douche, but I was stuck in that "looking for the perfect success story to emulate" rut for a while before I started. I wish someone had told me how to start the foundation for the business rather than how to be successful
