I had that same problem last year. I went to dealer and they replaced the gas cap. No more smell.
I guess I'll try a new cap if it keeps happening.

I had the same issue when I stuck in the traffic at hoover dam few days ago. Mine smelled like fuel and burning rubber, and I almost passed out in the car. I think it's normal and I'm not worried.

I have the same smell as well. Seems to come and go. I think there are a few threads about people trying to figure out where it is coming from. I wouldn't sweat it too much as it seems to be a common problem.

Did you ever change your gas cap? If so did it help?
I took my car to work the past 3 days and got gas last night and today when I got home I had that strong fuel/vapor smell again. Thats totally weird for a whole year no vapor smell. Maybe I cursed myself replying to this post. Just kidding. It maybe this desert heat doing funny things to our cars.

The few times it has happened, I have figured out that starting the car up and taking it for a short drive (under 10 miles) seems to fix it. I guess this makes sense as I've read the that EVAP system sucks in the vapors when you start the car.
If I don't go drive it, I fear my garage would blow up from fumes!
