The Green Mountain Tour Route
#11
I live in central Vermont. I drive to and from work every day (1/2 hour one way) on a road that most folks would travel for days to enjoy. I feel very fortunate. This is prime S country.
We have a lot of very lovely drives here and many with excellent newish pavement. What I often do is set a destination on my iphone gps - like one of the craft beer makers - and then select "winding roads" as the preferred route. Works great and helps me discover many wonderful routes. Sometimes it is the small, less well known, back roads that serve up the most driving fun.

We did make our trip this summer. Enjoyed the area as usual. Breweries, chocolate, scenery and more.
Brewery for lunch in Stowe
Stopped here as well.
Bijou chocolates was behind Fiddlehead brewery in Shelburne
The view in Stowe from Trapp Family lodge.

Your gps app has a winding road option? Anyone know of a good gps app for android with such a feature?

The app I use for driving gps is Tom Tom. The way it works is you set your destination and then it calculates a route based on default criteria you set in the preferences. I set "fastest route" as the default. But, after the route is calculated you can ask it to give you alternate routes, and one of the options is winding roads. I bet they make an app for Android. If not, I bet their stand alone gps units offer this feature. Not sure about that. It really is a wonderful feature and I use it a lot when driving my S. I am disappointed about one thing. Tom Tom has stopped supporting the version of the app that I use. Mine is the kind of gps that loads maps for a huge area - the entire US and Canada I believe - on your device. The new app they offer is the type that downloads the necessary maps as you drive into a temporary memory. I prefer the old one because in rural areas, like some of Northern New England, the cell service is spotty and sometimes you can't download maps on the fly. Sadly, I am gong to have to find another solution.
Lovely shot of the views from Trapp Family Lodge. You can feel winter knocking on the door here, and its nice to see that beautiful summer scene.
