After some more driving, it came back on...

The Cat 02 that I pulled out was so cruddy and caked with different color soot that I really thought that that was the case.

Bummer, the hunt continues.

My guesses:
Alternator (best way to check to see if rectifier has gone bad?)
Battery
Wiring harness
ECU
Injectors (but would be pretty random that all 4 are throwing misfire code?)
Knock sensor?

how does the ecu detect a misfire or come to the conclusion of one? Any physical signs, popping on cold idle, etc? drivability problems?

drivability, not really. Although does seem a bitttt sluggish (could be in my head). But I do get popping from exhaust. Sometimes I get a little hesitation leaving a stop after idling for awhile.

Ive been having the same issues only I have an audible stutter or misfire on a cold idle. Very faint but its there. Ive adjusted my valves and changed my plugs so far. I'm about to heaed to honda today for an induction clean to see if that handles the issue

So just checked what the codes are this time after I installed the oxygen sensors:

- cyl 2 misfire detected
- cyl 3 misfire detected
- cyl 4 misfire detected
- random / multiple misfire detected

Hmmm... now cylinder 1 is not misfiring, damn gremlins

Like I mentioned before if your dash flickers its probably your alternator. S2000s gauge clusters don't typically flicker. Do you here a clicking also when the dash flickers?

Don't hear a clicking, and I wouldn't even consider it a flicker, it doesn't happen often. I try to purposely make it flicker and it won't when I try to show people. Like when the air pump comes on when I first start it I get a flicker I guess, is that at least normal?
