Steve, I am surprised at you!!!

The guy made a mistake. Everyone has a tough time in life at one point. We should all give him a hand up!

A mistake? A mistake is when you follow a friend to a dog fight and get busted for being there. Bankrolling the operation; setting up the fights; training dogs so they will have no life but in the pit; shooting, drowning, electrocuting and beating poorly performing dogs to death then denying any involvement goes way beyond a mistake.

If you let a guy off because he only had a roach in his ashtray, that might be a mistake but if you spent the next two or three years selling dope from your patrol care before getting caught, would that be more than a mistake, wouldn't it?

As to playing again, he'll have been off the field for three years and 30 years old. Not a bright future for a quarterback.

This is the only "hand up" he deserves.

Believe me, I am a "lock em' up and throw away the key" type of guy. I just figured since Steve is more of a liberal guy, he might see it differently....

With a 23-month sentence, won't he likely get parole in under a year?

There is no parole in the federal system. He can qualify for a few months of good behavior if he plays nice.
