Default My 72k list of repairs and maintinence...

MY 01 nfr s2k @ 72k.......this car was purchased as a daily driver two years ago with 16k on her. I had no rear wheeldrive expierience before this vehicle and it was my first sports car! I drove her aggresivly, redlined daily some drag racing street and strip....a I always drove spirited, so the car never got any breaks, and had to suffer novice sports car driver abuse!

The dealer replaced the tranny @ 24k under factory warranty, for the 2nd gear grind and clutch buzz....The brakes were done at 63k, all fluids were changed religously, and tires as needed.

I added a cai @ 32k and springs at 69k

72k = broken cv joints, blown struts all the way around (springs), 2 broken suspension mounting bushings, 2 broken engine mounts, burnt clutch, and a severe valvetrain problem, also the brake pads I got over heated the rotars so I am now looking at a three hundred dollar brake job. I need new seats, plus the car has about 35 small dings on her, excessive whind noise and the frame is alot softer than the original feel!!

all this being said I do not beat myself up or get angry....i drove the shit out of this car and parts just dont last forever! so I will go to work on her and about 2200 bones later I will be back to page 1...(thank god I have somone to do the work)

I'm not sure why you posted that story but I am glad to have read it. I just ordered an 05 silverstone and I also have never had a sports car before. I want to have fun with my new car but don't want to beat it to death and I don't plan on having a story like yours anytime soon

These cars are built to be driven, whatever gives out obviously needs to be replaced anyway. I say drive the crap out of it, especially while it's still on warranty Oh, and I think the reason Brian posted this story is because he's the only one with that many miles on his car in ABQ, and he wanted to let us know what could possibly happen to ours later. Correct me if I'm wrong

not taken hard, i did post this so that others would have an idea what to expect or what to look for at higher mileage....

no car could take too much abuse, they all have limits. when you push them you break or wear out parts.........all part of the game as far as im concerned.

good luck to those with low miles......................if you drive this car right you will be replacing everything i am replacing and then some

Once I actually learn all the limits of this thing you'll see a little more out of me as well.

YOU GUYS ARE LOCO! Thanks Brian for the heads up of what to expect in the future. You learn the limits of the S the more you drive it...now that I won't be sweating the lack of tires, I'll try to let loose and DRIVE IT LIKE I STOLE IT!!!
