ticking noise

when start up does the s2000's suppose to make a ticking noise?

how loud is it? where is it coming from? Im assuming it may be the valves. How many miles on your car? If it is the valves then you probably need a valve adjustment.

17000 miles coming form engine and its not the belts i don't think its not too loud but when the car warms up it gets louder then it goes away for a couple of seconds and it comes back and it repeats like that

If you changed your oil 100 miles ago and YOU CAN STILL hear it....

then you either ran shitty mobil 1 or you ran a little low on oil for a small period of time

If you can hear the sound on initial start up then its the TCT..... they are very tempermental!!!

sounds like you might need valve adjusted, did you over rev or mis shift to wrong gear?? just make sure your oil is on point if you have not already....
and did it just start making that noise??

ap2s2k505 02-03-2009 07:51 PM

well yea i never heard it like that before i don't beat my car so i didn't over rev or miss any gears and no i didn't run low on oil for a while. every 1500 to 2000 miles like my R6. i don't know but i think i'm going to take it to the dealer

TCT (Timing chain tensioner) are known to go bad on these cars. It may be just that.
Take it to the dealer ASAP, you don't want to hurt these motors.

Hopefully it is an easy fix. Good luck.
