im' thinking the cop may have just looked into insurance records and assumed the driver was me.

The cop doesn't know any thing about the insurance policy or it's drivers based off a vehicles registration alone. You're "friend" screwed you! Sorry man it happens...

[QUOTE=GRUNTS2K,Jun 30 2007, 10:09 PM] Another victim of our bureucratic "safety" system. It's ok man, I've gotten much worse tickets or combination thereof . One of two things; They will either drop it to two points with a higher fine or give you the five full points. Depending on how good your lawyer is...which really depends on how deep your pockets are

In the state of NJ there is only one kind of citation for racing which is "racing on a highway". Doesn't matter of the location, street, alley way open complex...they treat it all the same. What municipality? I might have dealt with them already

What do you mean by "subsequent offense"? Those speeding tickets from before might play against you if they look up your driving record. 2 years isn't considered alot of dwell time. As far as your info is concerned all they need is your full name to look you up in the NCIC database.

You better give your "friend" a call ASAP to find out what the hell is going on.

well 2 years ago, i got my only ticket ever (carrying points) for 40 in a 25. that was reduced by plea bargain to an offense that carried 2 points, instead of 4.

i'm not sure what is meant by subsequent offense. I'm getting bombarded with letters from attorney's and they read "NJSA 39:4-52:Racing on Highway - Subsequent Offense."

Don't worry about those letters from lawyers. Municipal court records are a public a domain, so what they do is that send someone from their office to check out recent tickets and any moving violations they send letters offering their service. They don't mean anything. You can use it as toilet paper Don't worry what they list the charge as.

Typically in NJ you can get points reduced (if that's what you're worried about), and they'll take a nice check in exchange.
