Any chance the cop actually got your plate from the on board camera, and ran it after he pulled your friend over?
It wouldn't really matter because the vehicle is not under his name. The ticket came throught the mail under his name.

Couldnt the cop have checked his insurance and saw that the RSX's primary driver is under sunman?

No because the police don't have access to insurance records. Besides usually when a vehicle is not under your name, you are not the primary driver. There are exceptions such as only vehicle in the household, spouse is driver,etc...

yeah, i am not listed as the primary driver either. I was thinking maybe he looked at prior tickets because I had gotten a 40 in a 25 ticket 2 years ago. I spoke to my friend again and he still insists that he never said a word about me. I have spoke with a lawyer and I believe he will order "discovery". If my name was revealed to the officer, it should be stated in the discovery documents.

Not sure of how things are run there, from what I've experienced in Flemington/Readington, they'll gladly take your money in exchange for fewer points.

I know most will say police are pigs, they break the law, etc etc etc (most of it is true actually) but they are not going to give themselves MORE work to have to search your entire family for historic tickets, and then just guess you were the one driving. Aside from the fact that they don't even have the means to do that, its to much crap to do for a (starting) 25k job a year. Pull them over, ticket, done. Your friend spilled the beans plain and simple.
