Thumbs up Anyone have any experience with import brokers?

Well I am beginning to order some larger sea shipments from overseas.
They would be coming into the the Tampa port.
Has anyone dealt with importing in this way?
Do I need to get an import broker? I don't really have a vehicle to pick up myself unless I just rent a van or something.
I am wondering what is needed in all to ensure a smooth import from the port to my house.
If I get a broker will take care of all the customs stuff and arrange shipping to my house?
The next shipment I am going to arrange is only like 250 lbs and should not be that but air shipping would be like 2000 for it so need to go by sea.
Please let me know if you have any knowledge. Thanks!!

i use to do some frieght fowarding and customs myself ....and here is from my experience...

i doubt what you are importing is a full container load...so what you would need to do is get in contact w/ a freight fowarder or a customers broker...if you have no contact pm me and i'll send you my friends number.

he does custom clearing and that would take care of the paper work and most of the stuff. if u don't want to find a freight fowarder they will help you co load your shipment with a trucking company.

if u need more info pm me

I am willing to help with this as well. I have brought in both full containers and pallets both by air and sea.

Thanks guys. Do you have any idea of the costs for their service?
I am not ordering too much right now. About 250 lbs which I will be paying about 1700 for.
Having other shipments later but this would be the first one by sea from China.

^ my father does this for a living. He imports full containers from china. He uses a customs broker but his containers are a little more sensitive so a customs broker just makes everything easier. its also cheaper if you get a separate trucking company. i have a broker here in ny if you need it lmk

OK cool. Could the ones you know arrange pick up and all from Tampa FL and only shipping like an hour drive away to where I live.
Or would I need to find a place that has their business down here?
