Go to the west village, there are tons of great bars around 7th ave and Bleeker st, Grove st, W4th st, W3rd st, MacDougal st, Sullivan st, Thompson st, LaGuardia pl, Christopher st (for the gay bars), Hudson st... The list goes on and on and on. If you go the the east village, 2nd Ave, 1st ave, Ave A, Ave B, St. Marks pl, E9th st, E7th st, E6th st, and the list goes on and on. There are literally hundreds of bars on either side. If you want more upscale bars, go to the meat packing district, W14 st and 9th ave, Washington st, w13 st, little w12 st, gansevoort st...
Good luck.
Good luck.

I've always been a fan of The Room on Sullivan St, have to get there at the right time though as it always gets packed later in the night. Another one I like is the Blind Tiger, great beers and very chill spot, but sometimes the fun is just walking around that general area and hitting random places.
