BAYSIDE MARINA meetup to BEAR MOUNTAIN Sunday September 30th 615am
Roll out with us once again from the traditional meetup stop between Queens and Long Island headed to the NY Metro S2ki Bear Mountain S2000 bi-annual cruise. There were a record breaking 100 S2000s on our club run in the Fall of 2017! It's safe to say this is now easily the largest S2000 meet in New York. Don't miss it. NOTE : There are no facilities at this location or at the Bear Mountain meetup spot ( which is on the side of a highway) 51 minutes away.
Please plan accordingly.
The following establishments exist nearby on Northern Blvd. only 2 miles from the marina where you may wish to stop for coffee, donuts, gas, restrooms, etc. before proceeding to the Bayside Marina.
STARBUCKS 215-29 Northern Blvd @ 217th Place opens at 630am - premium coffee, breakfast sandwiches, restroom.
Bonus - There appears to be a small cars and coffee meet there as well
DUNKIN'DONUTS219-20 Northern Blvd @ 220th Street open 24hrs - coffee, donuts, breakfast sandwiches, restroom available
7-ELEVEN / bp 218-01 Northern Blvd @ 219th Street open 24hrs - across the street from Dunkin' Donuts. For those less discerning about their coffee. Pour your own cup, grab a candy bar, bottle of water and go. Full service BP gas station with vacuums, air, and acceptable restroom accommodations. Last minute "Oh man! I need a ..." items may be found here. This will be the last gas closests to the marina meetup spot and probably the last conveinence store on the route.
Show up with a FULL TANK OF GAS. You will find some sunglasses, a hat, a bottle of water, a GPS or phone with a GPS app like Waze and a family band radio are the bare essentials to keep you comfortable and in the know. see: NY METRO BEAR MOUNTAIN detailed cruise info link posted above
*It is recommended that you have a 10 $pot ready for the gatekeeper at the Croton dam
This part of the drive known as "the waterfall" is optional but I find to be one of the most enjoyable and memorable parts of this cruise. I highly recommend it. Loads of photo ops here! The drive to the waterfall begins at 0745hrs.
Notes: The waterfall will have the first public restrooms on the route
If you do not wish to go to the waterfall you will have to wait in or near the start line until the main part of the drive begins at 0900hrs.
