Dude, I found that noise. And I don't think it's the same thing as whatever you're having.
I'll second that.....Long as I have the car for a week, I'll attend to everything...

Billman,

Are you available any time next week, like maybe Wednesday the 18th?

I have this horrible noise coming from the rear of the car that happens only on acceleration. I'm hoping it's one of the cv joints and not the diff. The noise sounds almost like a very loud exhaust leak, except that you can feel it grinding through the car. You can especially feel it through the shift knob, so I'm thinking its a tranny/axle issue.

It doesn't happen if you rev the engine with the clutch depressed.... so its not an exhaust leak.

EDIT: The rear end noise is what's important, but can I bring the springs too?

If it's what I think it is, we can do an axle bucket swap, no parts needed. Car will litterally be like brand new again.

EDIT...wed is no good, taken already....how about thurs the 26th.....

Springs will have to wait

Hey Bill,

Looks like it's worse than I thought.... the car has gotten so bad that it's just about undriveable now. I might have to flatbed it over to you.

My roommate and I put the rear up on jackstands and discovered that the noise was coming directly from the diff (we used a stethoscope). It's this horrible clunking/metallic sound that jerks the whole car... and seems to be getting worse.

Anyway, I have a used '04 diff on the way; do you think you could do a diff swap on the 26th? I'll pre-lube the new diff with LE607.
