Chrome Shop in Metro NY (New Jersey if possible)
One of my colleagues has a 1967 Corvette that he has owned for about 30 years. He is in the process of "refreshing" it. It's bumpers need to be rechromed. Does anyone know of a shop that does quality rechroming, or chrome plating, in the metro NY area. It would be ideal if the shop was in New Jersey, but anywhere in the metro area would be fine. Please, only shops that do quality work. Thanks.

Hey! Most shop's sub chrome work out do to the giant tubs of nasty liquid stuff that ya need to chrome big objects. His best bet is to go to a Harley Davidson bike shop and ask who they use. There is one on route 46 in Rockaway I believe its called black hills or something. I just did an additon for a guy in Sussex county that owns a Hotrod Shop . I have his card in my Office. I'd be more than Happy to give him a call on monday and see who he uses. His Christmas Card to my Office was Him and his family in front of some hot rod chrome lowered orange beast of a car!

I was watching american chopper last season and they had a place they used that was local. I remember they drove to the place to drop the stuff off so he could do it right away. Now if I could only remember the name of the place they used. You can try and call them and ask where they use or where the local place is.

all the local plating shops have gone out of business due to the epa rules and the high cost of compliance. knew of three in bronx and queens all gone now. chromium and the acid baths involved are all very toxic. Had parts for my harley chromed and now it is cheaper to buy aftermarket parts already chromed outside of the u.s. than refinishing oem parts. Brown's plating comes to mind for quality work. they were someplace down south with a fairly good turn around time and quality work, however pricey.
