Clutch slipping... a few questions .
Hey everyone!!!!!
Shopping for another clutch system... my prior was an ACT puck clutch that had an rough engagement. Noticed on the forums a lot of guys are running parts from ScienceOfSpeed and AP1 setups to mix and match for preferred results. My question is how common is it for a clutch job to require ONLY the disk to be changed and NOT the pressure plate and bearings? If I decide to stick with the ACT with a different disk, would I be recommended to just start from anew and buy all the other stuff? Won't know until the trans it out completely kinda thing. Just wanted to know thoughts.

A couple of SOS users have had bad experiences with them. I have pulled two of them out in under 10k miles due to fulcrum defects in the PP. Maybe they will chime in.
All oem parts is the only way to go. If you want extra bite for autoX or FI, get the ACT pressure plate.
Currently 140k hard miles on oem disc and bearings, ACT PP and chromoly flywheel. Countless others have been running this setup longer than I can remember.

Great advice and very informative from everyone . Thanks again guys. That SOS info was a plus too. Will stick with my ACT PP and other OEM replacements from now on .
