You will be receiving a whole bunch of lawyer solicitations in the mail
in a few days. Any of them will probably do. If you have a good
record it is just a matter of the lawyer making a deal with the judge
and deciding how big of a fine you will pay and how many points you
will get on your license. Chances are the lawyer will get the points reduced
and you will pay the fine. It is all part of the money making game.
Everyone makes money, the court, the lawyer etc.

Interesting article but misleading headline. You can't beat a ticket in NYC. It's a kangaroo court system and you can't plea bargain.

96 in a 65 in NJ reduced to 70 in a 65. $$$ well spent.

Get a lawyer, it's crazy what some money can buy and it's fun to watch how corrupt our judicial system is.
Thanks, man...but I literally just paid an attorney a retainer fee. Hopefully he's as food as yours was.

It's worth it just for piece of mind.

Good luck.

So just FYI...if you haven't had any motor vehicle violations in the past five years which hold a point value, you could use a Unsafe Operator for no points. I do have two lawyers I could suggest, both are costly. PM if you need their information. Best of luck.

That's a fast turnaround for court date. I am contesting a ticket in NYC and their gave me a court date over 12 months from the date of offense. Works in my favor since even if I get the full fine with points, I'll only have to worry about a ticket for another 6 months.

nope... that's not how it works. It's from the date of the tickets. If you rack up 12points in a span of 18months you get your license suspended. Doesn't matter if you're found guilty 5 years from now.

@Kidblast - Is that for NJ, your license cant get suspended for pending tickets. Your not guilty of the crime yet. But Im not sure how NJ works

One thing for sure, you never go to the court date on the ticket, NEVER. Why, because there is a good chance the cop will be there vs a year later, cop may not show up.

For NYC, the day you got the ticket, thats when the clock starts. I have gotten 2 tickets in NYC, when was 5 points. By the time court time came around, points were gone, just had to pay the fine.
Westchester and upstate NY, you plead not guilty, go to the hearing (no lawyer needed unless its hours away) and they will drop that ticket to a parking ticket and just pay the fine with the court fee.

1st thing my lawyer did was get it rescheduled. I was supposed to go tomorrow, the 17th. My lawyer got it pushed back to the 14th of September.
