Yes and no. The 90 minute is much more approachable than the 120. The 120 is so intense both from an IBU and ABV perspective that you almost have to mentally and physically prepare yourself to drink one. You can saddle up to a 90 minute any day of the week and know you're getting one of, if not, the best IPA done by any microbrewery anywhere. The 120 is more of a treat to be had on rare occasions (esp. @ $10 for a single 12oz. bottle).

The nice thing about dogfish and Mayflower as well is that they have a good balance, anyone outthere can hop up a beer but without the balance all it is is hops...

Any of you guys brew?

I'm starting this winter.

Exactly, you need to have a solid malt to back up the hoppiness or the beer is just bitter. With Dogfish, and I'm assuming Mayflower, there's almost a certain sweetness that you get along with the roast of the malt and the bitterness of the hops which gives you that balance. Yay for beer!

What style are you going to brew, Andy?

definitely true. I had a 120 recently, and it was an experience every time i took a sip. I wouldn't have one every day, but its nice to have on occasion while talking with friends around a table or watching a good movie.

I honestly don’t know if I would even know the difference.. There are a few beers that I really like, but I am picky about how they are served. One is Guinness... If it's either poured too fast and not allowed time to steep, or is served too cold, I hate it. Moreover, I don't drink all that often, but when I do, I prefer a nice glass of single malt to beer. I guess it's all up to personal preference, but I just don't have the palate for the subtleties in the beer offerings out there.

Personally, I wouldnt mind seeing what is out there.. Any places that have tastings?

I'm definitely a beer snob, learn to brew properly and you won't want to drink commercial stuff anymore. I've been brewing 10 gallons a month for a year or two and can't stand anything on the shelves anymore.

Craving something, look it up, make it, enjoy I keep 3 taps running 24/7 at my house.

As for a whole saturday? I can brew 5 gallons start to finish in about 2.5-3 hours depending on the beer.

Happy brewing

-Mike
