I-78 CONSTRUCTION ALERT!

Hey guys -

I think there are a bunch of you who will be traveling out I-78 to FC and the track event at Beaver Run.

I went to Summit Point this past weekend and there are some pretty bad construction delays on I-78.

There are 2 areas between about exit 50 and exit 30 where it goes to one lane for several miles and can definitely be a little slow going. Westbound was not as bad - maybe 15-20 minutes but it could be worse when you go.

Eastbound from mile marker 35 to 30 iirc was worse. Took over an hour to go 6-7 miles. :banghead:

Just figured I'd give you the heads up.

thanks for the head up...but, some of us will be taking 80 west.

Interesting ... I will go on line and see if I can find anything about the road work from the pa tpk authority... perhaps an alternate route would be in order ?

what does "iirc" mean ?

it also depend on time of the day. for us, it's going to be about little after 9:00 am, we will pass this area. considering most traffic will be on east bound, I think it should be ok.

OK -- got it -- we will take 80 west to 287 south to I-78, thereby totally avoiding I-78 from intersections 30 and higher . The distance is identical either way.

Thanks for the heads up !!

Let me clear this up

If I Recall Correctly = iirc

I'm referring to exit #30 in PA - a potential route to BeaverRun -

I also posted as a general notice for anyone considering travelling in that direction/area.

HMMMMMM ,, could get around that by either taking 80 all the way out, OR if people really wanted to take the southern route for the tunnels along the way we could take 80 west to 81 south . We would then avoid the bad area of 78 in pa. .

The problem is that the second choice adds 30 miles to the trip....

Damned if we do or don't.

The way out might not be too bad - depending on time of day but you never know.

The way back was definitely worse.

There does look like a decent local route detour - which could be a nice drive anyway

I'd check for the exact location - I assume the PA DOT posts construction info - then get busy with google maps - I only had my Atlas and a bad attitude at the time.

I strongly dis-encourage rt80 at that hour. It take me 15 min. dead stop between exit 63 to 59 every morning. it's so easy for group to break up.
