I recently rented a car and when inspected the car found minor damage to the body which was noted in the contract. When I went to return the car, they told me that there was damage on the right side quarter panel, and they are now holding me liable for the repairs.

I am 100% sure that I did not damage the car, and when I got the car the guy at the rental company and myself did not look under the car for damage. They now claim $700 in damage.

Do I have any options here? I don't want to pay for something I did not do, but I spoke with them and they say that regardless I will have to pay. Any advice?

Did you get the insurance? If not did you pay by credit card? Does your credit card cover you on auto insurance? Also, I am confused as to where the damage is located. Underneath the car or on the quarter panel? If it's underneath the car, ask them when was the last time they checked underneath the car. On all the forms I've ever seen detailing damage there is never one for underneath the car.
