Since I must keep to tradition, I'll be hosting the 6th annual Metro Tech Day. Like the last two years (at my place), we are always shooting for at least 60+ cars and maybe one day break a record for largest single private car meet in the world. Who wants to break the record?

2008 Metro Summer Tech Day Information

UPDATE: We got the permit, tech day 2008 is a GO!



WHERE
Like the previous two years, tech day will be held at my private residence. Just like last year, I will not be posting up my full address for privacy. I will send a massive PM out about one week prior to the event containing my address to everyone on the list below. To get an idea of where I am, Mapquest Freehold, NJ 07728.I am located 15min outside of six flags, 10 minutes away from Englishtown raceway, and about 20min from the NJ coast.

TIME
The event will be held on Sunday August 10 2008. I plan the event to start at approx. 9am and end at approx. 6pm give or take. Everyone MUST clear out by 10pm as per municipal rules but that has never been a problem.

PARKING
Parking will be exactly the same as last year; I will be closing off the street for people to park in. I'll have two lines of cars on the sides angled toward the curb to maximize the amount of cars we can fit. I'll leave the center open for people to leave if need be. I'm going to first fill up the area closest to my house and then I'll move the barricades down when more people come. If the permit does not pass, don't worry, we have an alternate parking plan made up

WHAT TO BRING
If there is one thing I have learned its that everyone bringing stuff to a party never works quite the way you wanted it to. With that being said, please bring 10 dollars per person which will pay for the permit, food, and drinks. You do not need to bring any food /buns / drinks. However, Alcohol will NOT be provided and not be tolerated on the premise. We do not want to get involved in the added responsibility that it brings to the table. Yes it will be my 21st birthday, but I'll save the celebration to later on in the night once it gets a little quieter

Payment will be easy. Just like last year, I'll have my friends at the "gate," pay them and they'll show you were to park. This has worked perfectly for the past 2 years, no need to change it.

TOOLS AND SUCH
Like last year, the oven is not open for headlight clearing and such. As far as tools go, if you plan on doing anything to your car, PLEASE bring the appropriate tool for the job; I don't posses nearly enough tools to provide for everyone (plus stuff always gets lost). Also be sure to bring a jack + jack stands (if needed) as well.

I do NOT mind oil changes and other fluids, HOWEVER, bring all necessary containers, drain pans, etc for the job. I do not have storage for used oil / coolant / etc. This is a private clean community, so do not spill the oil all over either .

This even would obviously not be nearly the same without our very own Billman who will be, once again, making the 3.5 hour journey down to central NJ for this event. Because this event will be mostly likely large, maybe / hopefully larger then last year, it is only fair to make things easier on him as I can imagine he'll be running around like crazy as usual. With that being said, I'm hoping to set up some workshops on common tech day items so after a few people see it, they can run around helping other people with it, thus not having bill do 30 clutch delay vales (a very popular tech day item). We did this last year on a few items and it worked out nicely, I'm hoping we can do the same again this year.

RULES
Some simple basic rules just for the record, not that there were any major issues last year. No racing / reving / burn outs / etc. As stated no alcohol for liability sake. If your going to smoke, leave the buds in the street. And of course, have fun and get dirty teching!

The most important part -- FOOD AND DRINKS
As most of you found out last year, my parents love to cook and this year will be no different. We'll have a large variety of food to pick at which will include:burgers, hot dogs, ceaser salad, meatballs (a tech day favorite), cake with large pure sugar ballons , and some other undecided foods at the moment. Drinks will be the basic coke, sprite, water, tea, etc.

WHO
Please post in this thread if you intend on coming to the event. Like the previous years, the last day to join will be the Thursday before tech day as we will be purchasing the food around then. You are more then welcome to bring a +1 along with you and its encouraged just remember it will be 10 dollars per person. I try to keep tech day to mostly s2000's / s2000 owners but I know a couple of good guys that do not own s2k's that will be attending. With that being said if your bringing other friends along, try to minimize the amount of cars. If you have 4 people and 1 s2000, I expect to see 1 s2k and 1 other car. I only put these restraints because parking is usually the largest issue we face during tech day. Only s2000's are allowed to park in the closed off area . Other cars will park down the street.

Now, unfortunately last year we had a somewhat of a problem with people saying they were coming and never showed. To make a long story short, we bought food for ~150 people and only about 1/2 of them came leaving us with enough burgers and hot dogs to eat for the next couple of months. I'm aware that last minute plans come up but saying your coming and never show is inexcusable in my book. With that being said, PLEASE let me know if you will not be coming by the Thursday before tech day. I don't want to have this problem again, a simple PM to me is all thats required if some last minute plans come up.

i was at the last tech day at Johns house with my dad, unfortunetly i didnt have my own s2k. Look forward to learning how to do some stuff on my own s2k.

At the last tech day me my dad, jacko and someone else were walking from our parked s2ks on the street, behind about 10-15 other s2ks, some guy pulls up and goes, is this an estate sale or something. haha fail
