 BEAUTIFUL MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ (CENTRAL JERSEY SHORE)
Towns to check out: RED BANK. Trendy, upscale, lots of shopping and great restaurants. (GSP Exit 109) PIER VILLAGE. Contrived (recently built) shopping/dining right on the ocean. Clean and trendy. (GSP Exit 105) ASBURY PARK. Undergoing a rebirth around the Cookman Ave area. Look for trendy yet inexpensive places to eat, art, and a great music scene at the Stone Pony. (GSP Exit 100) BELMAR. One of the quintessential Jersey Shore towns. More grown up than Seaside Heights or Pt. Pleasant yet there is still a young crowd. Check out the beach by 16th St. for hotties aplenty. Also check out Bar A for the ultimate night spot. (GSP Exit 100/98) Local Food: There are TONS of great locally owned restaurants by the shore but these are some of the more popular "quick bite" places you will only find here... SURF TACO WINDMILL HOT DOGS JERSEY MIKE'S SUBS Scenic/educational: MT. MITCHILL. For great views of Sandy Hook and the Manhattan skyline. Highest point on the Atlantic Seaboard. TWIN LIGHTS. Nice lighthouse and maritime museum. SANDY HOOK. Great beaches and views. Also you can tour the remnants of Fort Hancock, an old military base/proving ground in the early 1900's, and Cold War missile defense sites. :tipwink: |
