Queens/LI meetup to Bear Mountain Cruise Sun 05/19/24
05/19/2024 QUEENS/LI/BKLYN meetup to BEAR MOUNTAIN If you are coming from Queens, Long Island or Brooklyn headed to the NY Metro S2ki BearMountain S2000 cruise there is a roll out from the traditional S2ki meetup spot located at the scenic Bayside Marina to the Bear Mountain cruise start point. The rollout will be located in a lot along the Cross Island Parkway before the Throgs Neck Bridge.
For those in the know the Metro S2ki Bear Mountain meets are easily THE BEST and LARGEST S2000 MEETs in New York!
NOTE : There are no facilities at this location until we get to the BearMountain meetup spot about 51 minutes away.
Please plan accordingly.
The following establishments exist nearby on Northern Blvd. only 2 miles from the marina where you may wish to stop for coffee, donuts, gas, restrooms, etc. before proceeding to the Bayside Marina.
DUNKIN'DONUTS 219-20 Northern Blvd @ 220th Street open 24hrs - coffee, donuts, breakfast sandwiches, restroom available
7-ELEVEN / Bp 218-01 Northern Blvd @ 219th Street open 24hrs - across the street from Dunkin' Donuts. For those less discerning about their coffee. Pour your own cup, grab a candy bar, bottle of water and go. Full service BP gas station with vacuums, air, and acceptable restroom accommodations. Last minute "Oh man! I need a ..." items may be found here. This will be the last gas closest to the marina meetup.
Show up with a FULL TANK OF GAS is officially required. You will find some sunglasses, a hat, a bottle of water, a GPS or phone with a GPS app like Waze and a family band radio are the bare essentials to keep you comfortable and in the know. We are also using the RoadStr app downloaded on our cell phones. see: NY METRO BEARMOUNTAIN detailed cruise info link posted above
NOTE:
(We usually make one last gas/restroom stop at a gas station/ about 15 minutes before we arrive at the meet. ***MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE A LITTLE OVER A 1/4 TANK OF GAS********* to get you at least here. This is the absolute minimum!!!!!)
100% correct. I was driving by literally last week and thought how are we going to meet here this year!!!!
May I suggest AI check out the street at 73rd Ave and 210th st in Bayside as an alternate meeting point? This is right in front of Cunningham park with a long block that we can line 100 cars up at with the clearview expressway entrance right there to head on and up over the Throggs neck. In front of the clearview entrance there is also a parking lot for the park located at 73rd Ave and Hollis hills terrace st. that can also accomadate 100 cars or so. A bagel store and a Dunkin’ Donuts are also both one block away!

Taking everyone's concern into account I visited the marina during the morning hours this weekend. THE PARKING LOT IS STILL OPEN. There is a project to reconstruct the marina due to Hurricane Sandy and the dock is closed. There is a green construction fence located along the waterfront in the parking lot. It will obstruct our normal scenic view. There is still ample parking in the lot and there are a few spots that we may be able to use for overflow however it may get a little tight right before we leave so please be considerate and leave room for other vehicles to move through the lot.
Thanks

No problem. I appreciate everyone keeping me informed. This is still the best meetup spot for NYC cars who want to convoy up that way. It's easily accessible because it's literally right on the Cross Island Parkway. L.I. people come up the Cross Island and Brooklyn cars can also come up this way off the Belt Parkway. You can't miss it. Once we drive out of that the lot within 2 minutes we're on the bridge! Hopefully the new renovations will continue to serve our needs.
