Recommend S2K Mechanic
 

Sorry if this is wrong thread. But need Help.
Had oil changed at dealership two days ago. I drove four miles without oil cap. Tech forgot to screw it on. Engine made "growling" noise until cap was replaced. Lost some oil but still at High mark.

Found two slivers of metal on cap. Should I suspect engine damage? Please recommend reputable S2000 mechanic. Appreciate your help.

@fanfare78 - Billman is probably the most reputable S2000 mechanic in the country.

So did they find the old oil cap, and put it back on, or put a new one on?

If new, old one is likely sitting on top of trans and will make annoying rattle sound. Just have to fish it out.

Have you learned your lesson? The stealership will screw up your car, never say sorry, and try and find ways to make it your fault. Make you pay to fix it.

Worst is when they do something that takes a long time to cause damage, like using the wrong fluid (diff fluid is a good example). Its that much harder to prove later damage was their fault.

right of passage.... i used to laugh about this every time i saw a post then I went to drop my car off with Jeff (MiniToy), figured i should check the oil as i don't want to look like an idiot and drop my car off low on oil. i pull in and the underside of my hood is splattered with oil. oopsie.

Probably in the world. One of the most knowledgeable S2000 mechanics who is also extremely meticulous. I thought I was the only OCD freak who aligned the bottom of the "H" wheel centercap with the valve stem and knew exactly where the "S 2000" badge is positioned on the front fender.

You know this one is trickier than it looks. It's not exactly level with the ground due to the angle of the body. I replaced mine with the CR black versions, made it level with a bubble level, and then realized it was crooked.
Pulled them off, dropped another $80, and had the dealership (paul miller honda in caldwell) near me install it. The only tech they allow to work on my car has his own S2000 and I trust him. Been going there for almost 7 years.
