Default thinking of removing my soft top

ok so i am thinking of removing my soft top for some weight savings. Let me say that the car is not my daily but is mainly for street use. I almost always have the top down, and i try an aviod driving the car with the threat of rain. I was thinking of a getting a hard top for times when i may be taking the car on longer trips. My question for those who have removed it is do you regret the change. Is the performace gain really worth the trade off. Seems like it would be difficult go go anywhere and leave the car if i don't have the hardtop on. If i take it off and find i want it back on is it a b**ch to reinstall. Just asking for some feedback.

Thanks

My advice is that whatever modification is done to a car, you try to maintain a degree of reversibility. Whatever you do, just don't sell the soft top

With your 450whp, I don't think you need to go to great lengths to save weight!

Try to go through an entire summer without putting your top up and see how it goes.

Soft top vs. Hard top is probably 20 lbs difference?

If you do remove it, you'll need to retain the rainrail. It would be much work to drill yours off then rivit it on later, so just order one from honda they are 60 bucks or so...or you could ask around the board if someone has one.

Don't do it for weight savings. Will not notice the difference and then you don't have a top on the go.
Since you are FI as well what is the point? Just tune like .5 psi higher and would be the same thing.
40 lbs weight loss is like gaining 4 hp or so I think.

Just to clarify, I would only be running the ht once and a while. So my net loss would be around 75lbs. Plus I have removed a few items that netted me a loss of about 45lbs. So my total loss would be around 120 lbs. I not only am thinking gains in acceleration but improvements in braking and handling as well. Just wondering if those that have shaved this amount of wieght or removed the soft top noticed a difference in the abouve areas. And was the gain worth the sacrifice of the soft top. Thanks so far for your responses

I've always had a hardtop and am not a big convertible person. Removing the softtop was no question for me, I had always wanted to do it. Removing all the panels is tedious but it doesn't take long. If your not a convertible person like me than go for it. Most people on this forum will tell you otherwise - I mean our cars are convertibles so most enjoy the feature. If your turbo then your obviously ok with permanently modifying it, might as well sell It and make some of your money back

I took more than 120lbs (close to 350lbs) out of my car and it was definitely a noticabel difference, however I didn't remove my soft top.

Would I do it again... no.
