It's time to start organizing our hugh crew for WTD 07!
Important packing list:
Full tank of fuel for Annandale meet spot
snacks/drink
FRS Radio
EZpass
Cash for lunch/breakfast stops
CC or cash for fuel stops
SPARE KEY (we're a long way from home, you loose your key you're in big trouble)
Things you will need: FRS Radio, EZ-Pass, full tank of fuel and snacks before we roll. It's about a 3.5 hr trip to the halfway hotel. WE WILL NOT BE STOPPING FOR FOOD OR FUEL on Thursday night once we roll out. We will make one restroom stop if needed.
About Fontana Village.....it's a hugh neighborhood with rentable cabins, AND NO CELL SERVICE. It is very important that we all get FRS radios. They are not expensive, and can be found at Best Buy or Radio Shack. I have found that the 10 mile units are good for about a mile, so I urge all to get one with decent range, like 15 miles or better. We will pick a channel for Metro so we can communicate.
2 book 1 night, by phone at the halfway point hotel for Thursday April 12th, and a second night Sunday April 15th if you want to split the ride coming home on Sunday (prices going up daily, do it now!!!) 540-665-0685 Link for Hotel in Winchester, Halfway point
3 book 2 nights for April 13th and 14th, Fri and Sat, at Fontana Village near the event. Use the registration link to find info on Fontana Village near the event. you will need to telephone the hotel to book, and mention WAKE THE DRAGON.
If you plan on leaving Thursday after work, and caravaning down with us (which is what all of us do ), we will be staying at this hotel on Thursday night, APRIL 12th ONLY. Or if you want to split the ride and stay at the halfway hotel on the way back, book a 2nd night for Sunday APRIL 15th as well. You will need to telephone the following hotel in advance, pair up with someone if you like, and book a room for this one or two nights. I will contact the hotel and organize a corporate rate for us.
Dates for the dragon event:
-Thursday, April 12th...Departure for those who wish to leave after work. We will be leaving AZWildcats area in Annandale, NJ at 8:30 sharp for the first hotel in Winchester. Please arrive on time, fill your tank, and join us for dinner if time allows. We will make plans via PM's and cell phones for earlier convoys to Annandale.
-Friday, April 13th...Breakfast, then on the road for most of the morn and afternoon, arrival at headquarters hotel, check in, party by night!
-Saturday, April 14th, 9AM... Leave the hotel in a mass of S2000's and head out to defeat the dragon!
-Sunday, April 15th....depart at the crack of dawn for the trek home, or breakfast and a later start for those staying at the halfway hotel on the way back, plus VIDEO NIGHT on sunday night at the halfway hotel.
-Monday, April 16th...Breakfast, and depart from the halfway hotel for the convoy home

Also, who is staying at the halfway point on the way back? 800 mile drive might be a bit much for one sitting.
Yea, I will too. No point in killing myself with the 13 hour drive, although if I was do it in any car, it would be mine....TV, cadillac mode (0,0,0,0 on the EDFC, etc)

btw be careful speeding through virginia they give you bad tickets for 80+ and the swine there won't knock down the speed to help you out (if you're clocked at 81, you're getting a ticket for 81 and it's a mis-d; big $$$)
