people over use salt btw. most of the times you can just shovel. only salt when its freezing rain over night. i use ice melt NaCl http://www.globalindustrial.com/prod...FuzBoCOm3w_wcB

sidewalk concrete is pretty durable, id be more worried about ruining driveway asphalt
