Actually, it's worse than that. By melting the snow/salt you now have accelerated the corrosion issue due to the higher temperatures. If you've got 'em salt-covered, keep 'em cold!
All I would like is an open carport kind of thing to keep the majority of the snowfall of of it.

Good call on the web site though, I didn't know of that one.
And John, keep in mind, when you get to a point where you are serious about looking I suggest you use my realtor, SHE IS AMAZING, she worked with me for three years and never lost patience. I can

That would be kewl. I'd love to do something like that to my house but I don't think the next door neighbor would appreciate the blocked view or the roof that would be nearly attached to their house (small lot and the driveway is actually partly on their lot with only ~4 feet of plantings up to their house).
Oh, well - you can live in a car but you can't drive a house...

Doug, your suggestion of a 3 car garage has been considered. But it requires $$$$$$$$$$ and are usually attached to these HUGE houses, like 3000 sq ft. That's much out of my budget.

Well, I can't answer your question about a 2 1/2 car garage, but I can tell you a 2 car garage won't do it...in fact it BARELY fits 2 cars.
I find my 2 car garage is very tight with 2 cars.
In the summer I just park the S2000 in there at an angle so I can quickly and easily swap wheels.
Conedodger - I WANT YOUR GARAGE (minus the blue S2000, a BERLINA would fit better ).

I just came back from a Christmas party hosted by my manager. She lives in an area where a lot of the houses have 3 car garages. Her next door neighbor has a house that's just over 2000 sq. ft. and has a 3 car garage. That's exactly what I want. But that area looks expensive. Maybe I should start playing the Lottery. heh heh

I think I could get by with 1,130 sq-ft...
John, also keep in mind that you can make an addition to an existing structure as long as the property is large enough. All towns have their own 'set-back' rules but this is easy to figure out - you make the realtor get the answer. If you expand an existing structure you will not be forced into buying into a really wealthy area.
EXAMPLE- one of the cape cods I almost bought was over in Brighton, it was on a corner lot and the 2nd street was a dead end. The house did not face the main road but the little dead end street. The house had a one car garage but because of the way it was laid out on the land it could have been made into about a 5-car garage and it would still have been way away from the next door neighbor's property line. That house is in fact the one house that I really regret missing. I did not move fast enough and it was gone...

I'm pretty sure you can get 3 cars in a 2 1/2. In fact I know you can, my dad stores his Mustang at the back of his 2 1/2, parked perpendicular to the daily drivers. EvilGirls dad easily parked 4 cars in his 3 car garage! (Along with the snowblower, riding mower, grille, generator, etc...) You'd be surprised how much you can fit in.
