Default 4/23/17. Hibernation over but not without a fight...

it's been 6 months.
I did all the right things:
Battery tender,
cleaned,
stabil,
fluid changes,
valve adjustment.

Sun is here and roads are clean.
off comes the umbilical and wifey and I hop in with anticipation brimming, hit the button and...Bang ! Like a main breaker in a house blown.
I was nervous that there was a wrench on a terminal, or starter seized, but hopped out and battery was just dead shorted.

Venza'd to the advance auto and 120$ later, all is now good with the world.
Felt so good to be back in this car.

I used to use a tender but the past couple years i've just been pulling the batteries and putting them in my basement. My garage isn't permanently heated however, as yours may be, but the cold just seems to smoke the batteries. I got mine out on Easter, i think i've already got more miles on it than i did last year

The battery was an optima yellow with a 2009 mfg date, that I installed spring 11.

6 years life...
not too good, but not too bad...

the way it just "snapped" was so odd.

I've had a couple of instantaneous battery failures. Starts up fine once , and no-go on the next start. Can't even jump start.

I had the same battery problem. I took it off the battery tender and first decided to put the top down. Top started down fine and then stopped half way. Dash lights etc. went to super dim. DiHard from 06. Maybe I should say Deadhard!

I heard that Optima quality went to crap about a decade ago. Looking for a battery a couple years ago, I gave up the quest for the ultimate battery and settled for a Honda factory batter for just under $100.

I take mine in during the winter and it sits on the floor in my closet. I charge it just a couple days before I put it back in.
