Default Autocross 2018

Finger Lakes has posted their schedule and I have added it to the Upstate Autocross Schedule Sticky.

Of note:
  • Evolution Phase 1 and Challenge Schools the last weekend in April at Seneca Army Depot (SEAD). These will fill up fast, so register soon!
  • Test and Tunes the same weekend at SEAD. (As well as T&T on Saturdays preceding FLR events at SEAD)
  • SCCA National Championship Tour June 8-10 at SEAD.
  • FLR Novice School June 23rd at the Penn Yan Airport.

There should be a sizeable contingent from MoHud for the National Championship Tour. I plan to be there too.

Mark - any suggestions on where I should look for room and board? My track season will likely not be as busy as last year, but at a minimum I'd like to make this tour and the TT Nationals in Kentucky.

Not sure about places to stay. I would look at Seneca Falls or Geneva. Being summer in the Finger Lakes, they won't be cheap and will fill fast. I used to camp across the street from SEAD, but the last few times I commuted.

Very cool. How much tread do you have remaining on your last set of RE71RS?

I ran my RS3s all of last season and half the season prior. Chances are I’ll use them for at least half the season this time.

I still have some tread left, as I did not run as many events as usual. Past experience has shown me that I need fresh rubber to be competitive. I waited last year to mount the new tires and found I was a couple of seconds off the pace at the first event.

In your case, I think fresh rubber would definitely be of more help as you are driving at the top of 2nd for the most part and have long sweeping corners.

However as much as our course designer works his magic, we can only do so much in our smaller lot in Albany. I'm not confident they'll find another site. The SAC is meeting this weekend to determine the calendar and block dates with the site.

Just updated the autocross schedule. Looks like several opportunities for practice at SEAD before the Tour.

So our MoHud season is on hold. We'd finalized a schedule and the Office of General Services said we could not use any of their facilities with no explanation.

Time to buy a large lot of land and pave it only for autocross use.
