Ummm, don't need it. I have other software and tools that does everything I need.

But, I'm all for trying new things. You say you have it right? Maybe I can get a copy of it from you. If you want, I can set you up with web based access to my server and you can upload it. Let me know if that's what you want to do, I'll PM you with userid / passwd.

I don't use the Canon or Kodak schlockware, either. I set up the computers to simply see the camera as a drive and just transfer the images onto the hard drive. From there I use Paint Shop Pro 9 (interesting digital camera tools including digital noise and JPEG artifact removal) and/or Photoshop Elements (haven't needed the full-blown PS yet) for manipulation...

Fred - PM sent. I gotta run out for some errands so I sent you the access info for my computer.

Jeff - That is similar to what I do as well.

one of the few functions i use from Nikon is the DDE... try that.. you will love it if you have pics that's partially under and over exposed (the tricky ones).. it pulls the histogram to bell curve.. i can show you same samples tonight

What's DDE? Is it similar to the various "quick fix" choices that attempt to normalize an image with brightness and contrast (among other things)?

Digital DEE (Dynamic Exposure Extender) reveals details in shadows and highlights, correcting for underexposure in back-lit subjects or shaded areas of images and for overexposure in brightly lit areas.

here is an example

Before DDE

After DDE

I tried duplicating this and came close but it was usually with some variance in contrast and/or color balance. Modifying the histogram helped as did brightness and contrast. Using the quick fix also roughly duplicated the effect but overall it would have been multiple items being changed with what appears to be a single click for you...
