Engine Rebuild, anyone know where?

Hi all. Moved to Syracuse from NYC. My 2001 SSM has 135K miles and it just started to do what may be a “rod knock” I haven’t driven it since it made the sound, but I fear it will need a bit of serious work. Anyone know who would be able to execute such a task?

Not sure about shops in Syracuse but Quantum near Albany if that is an option for you: http://www.quantumraceworks.com

Steve doesn't build motors anymore. The only places i know require shipping of a motor. Kings or inline pro

In all honestly, if you're not looking to go FI your best route is to buy a complete used motor in good condition and swap it, then sell your old motor for parts. This is by far the most economical route.

Jake's right, you would be crazy to spent $10k or more on a built motor when you can get a used motor for cheap and have it installed for $1000.

Call John Weisberg at Berg Racing (in Rochester, NY) and inquire about an engine install. 585-545-4265.
He may not know me by name (Greg Goss) but he will remember the #59 Honda S2000 race car from Super Touring Under (STU)
He is a decent guy and a damn good racer !!

So, have you made a move on this yet? I would have at least pinpointed what the issue was with my motor myself. Not to say that any of the suggested shops or mechanics aren't decent, but I've learned that it's always in your best interest to DIY. Having said that, I do realize you might just have no interest in such things ;) A good start would be to post your motor troubles here at UTH. I did when I had things go mechanically south and I ended up doing most of the work myself.

Thanks

Thanks, after it started making the sound, I stored it until now. I think it's too much for me to deal with, so my plan is to sell it (to someone interested in turbocharging?) and buy another AP1.

It could be saved. Who’s to say the next S2k doesn’t deveop the same problem? Not sure how fare you are from Billman ?
