New owner, checking in.

Hey everyone,

I just got an s2k last October. I live in Rochester and figured I would say hi. Anyone know of a good shop I can take my car to near me? I want to make sure my TCT is okay and maybe get a compression test.

No idea of shops in Rochester, but what year is your S2000 and how many miles on it? Conedodger or Shiv can chime in with shop info as they live in the area.

Billman should be at NY Safety Track in May. Send him a PM and make the drive and he should be able to swap out your TCT for his.

Check out the Under the Hood section and if you need work or parts, Jsenclosure in Albany is a good resource especially if you ever need a soft top.

Also be sure to post in the Who's Who thread (link below) and Levi will add you to the roster

Welcome aboard.

suggest you setup time with Billman to check your valves ASAP. 06+ s2000 have been known to have tight exhaust valves. Like Aashish says, get your TCT done as well. Then, drive it lots!

Here are three shops I would recommend in Rochester:

The Little Speed Shop - https://www.thelittlespeedshop.com/
Berg Racing - https://www.berg-racing.com/
Eksten Autoworks - Eksten Autoworks Import Auto Repair Service and Race Car Preparation. Porsche, BMW Specialists.

I've dealt with all 3 and have been happy.

Welcome to the club!

Did you happen to buy that car from a dealer in Schenectady?

I can do a compression test and check your tct if you find yourself out towards albany. TCT is easy to figure out, if you hear a rattle when you first start your car it's your tct, this is most notible when you first start the engine and then will typically die down, you may also hear it on acceleration. If it's really bad you'll hear it at idle but it's likely a bad bearing or bad belt tensioner if you hear noise at idle.
