Signed into law by Cuomo last month and going into effect beginning January. Transparency less than 70% and your vehicle fails annual inspection. 70% is pretty much the chemical tinting in factory glass. Installed 35% film on my s2k and now my Civic because I hate driving around in a fishbowl.

Film removal fees at tint shops just went up.

Is that for all vehicles/windows? The current rules are no longer any good?

Hmm...that BRZ has tint. It's not very dark though. I'll probably have it removed in the spring.

Foaming glass cleaner and a razor blade removes tint rather quickly

Hmm what if prior to inspection the windows are rolled down and window fuses pulled and you just let them know the windows are busted

Window tint will be tested during state inspection starting January 1 WNYT.com

"A Ford Focus with factory windows that had not been tinted just passed with 73 percent. A Ford Mustang's factory windows that had not been tinted came in at 76 percent. All side windows and the windshield are tested on cars. Only the front windows and windshield are tested on SUVs, trucks, and vans."

Such a stupid law. So SUVs, vans, and trucks need not apply for rear windows? Our Crosstour is fairly dark on the rear windows and aft window.

No one with a gun has ever sat in the rear of an SUV. De Blasio and the NYPD were major proponents of this. Thank you NYC.
