Puttering
Went out this evening and worked on three things:
NSX valve adjustment. Awkward, but straightforward. Found my Lost motion assemblies were sticking for a few cylinders. Valve adjustments were good. LMA's will have to come out. Winter project. http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...1EAED129A0.jpg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4eRQf7kkhc Once I buttoned that up, Mocked up my new S-Factor splitter/lip protecter. Super well built, and fits perfect. Need to remove and finish... http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...1EBC89BCD3.jpg Last, my son Nick is planning on competing next year in a vintage mx at Unadilla. He sent me a scroty engine to rebuild. Did a strip-down, and made a quick vid for him I'll share here. Done for the night... Beer me. http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...1EC79D098A.jpg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Ai0FHD0L-U |
Nice. Keep this thread as your record of all work performed
|
I became tired just hearing about all you've done, Jeff! Congrats.

Today:
S2k: Checked out front tires. They are not growing tread... http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...70D5DEC7F9.jpg |
Helped neighbor. He hit a rock with his mower and blew one of the deck blade hubs.
Took off his deck, removed damaged parts. Loaned him my JD mower. He brought it back full and gave me a case of beer ! Hogan came over and we worked on beer. |
Did a pre-flight on the S2k. Found a tire low on air.
sigh. Plugged. http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...70E72E08DF.jpg http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...7102F59B0B.jpg |
Doing some prep and paint on the S-Factor splitter.

I have to wash this piggy.
Been driving it every day. Even the splitter I painted this weekend is sauced... http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...17483BDA85.jpg |
^ looks cleaner than my car
|
Did the wash and prep for Zaino.
Washed with Dawn blue, claybar, wash again Dawn blue. Put away till dry. I can't ever remember the car so clean. Now to make it shiny... http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...718594133B.jpg http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...71992F7FA4.jpg http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...71A3F71379.jpg http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...71AF7B6C52.jpg |
Looking good. I looked around the net on using Dawn Blue with a lot differing opinions. How has it worked for you?
|
You only use it once. Too alkaline.
Zaino is a polymer paint sealant and polish. I'm just re-doing it as the car was truly neglected, so I went all the way back to sanitize and clay. The Dawn is going back to the kitchen and I use the Zaino Z7(I think) from now on. |
Zaino exhaustion.
Dawn to wash off the grease and waxes. Claybar to get the bits. Dawn again to remove the final bits. Isopropyl and water bath. Prep done. Went out, my ZFX accelerant has dried up and now I'm at no-go with a perfect prepped car. Saw on facebook that one of my buddies just zainoed his car. Texted him. Sure, come on over and get some ZFX! 2 coats, and 2 coats of glosser. It's never, ever looked better. Beer me. |
|
Wow ! That's expensive stuff !

Really PO'd that the car was so dirty when I had a stud photog like yourself taking pics last trip. Save some pixels for me for next time we get the cars together. Bring some fluids, and we'll change them all... http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...o/fbf39c99.jpg http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...o/e9db036a.jpg |
Buddy down the street needed manual labor to move his 67 GTO into his shop. Picked me up in his 65 mustang convertible, took me home in his bored, big block Cobra.
Vid doesn't do justice of how this felt... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0x-w2ZXIER8 |
