Stickies/Threads at the top in bold
So, go for it, I want to see a lot of votes here Upstaters.
This is your forum so help me figure out how to help you! |
I have to admit, it seems to me as soon as I stick a thread up here it goes from active to inactive; thus the reason for my poll...

I hafta say that I generally don't look for stickies unless I either know there's something there of interest or if I'm looking for info that may be common (ala the autocross FAQ in the Race and Competition forum). I voted no...

So now how reliable is the poll???
All of us who made a reply seem to think stickies is not a way to get a thread noticed, and yet 71.43% of the votes say "Yes; I pay attention to the stickies, best way to post upcoming events." |
Sometimes I may go longer periods without coming to this site and if there is a notice on the front page I should see it. If the thread has made it to page 2 I may not.

:D |
I just noticed this thread (stickie) after it had been posted for two weeks (apparently). I guess that tells you how I voted. :D

I think the problem with stickey threads is there are no indications it has been modified, unless you look at the last poster (and realizing it is different that what you last saw as the last poster) and the date of the post.
Regular threads move up to the top when an update has occurred and the "unread" icon appear next to it (as long as you are logged in). |
