The great Lexington fire follows on the heels of the Bowling Green massacre. My thoughts and prayers with the Lexington, KY PD

Back to the grind today. Enjoyed some of my time off. Tried (unsuccessfully) to put a dent in my video game backlog.

About this time of year back in the 1970's, I would get a report from my employer summarizing the measly, un-vested benefits I had accrued under the company's pension/profit sharing program. My eye always focused on the line entitled "Normal Retirement Date" and on the date that the plan administrator has inserted - "2013".

Oh, what an agonizing and depressing date it was, that 2013. So far away. So beyond my grasp. So beyond my imagination. Such a distance into the future as to be beyond reach!

Now I find that 2013 date is six years back. Still haven't retired - Still basically hate work. Not sure what is wrong with me.

El Jefe - you wouldn't have as much fun if you retired.

Or maybe you should become a self-published author on Amazon. I've heard some of those people make good money and you have a flair for writing.

I pulled the plug in September, no pension. In October they announced a voluntary separation plan. Lost out on 6 months severance. Stock market is in the dumpster. Still happy!

It's hard to retire and keep racing...
