So Dave Nicholas is probably the fastest vintage MGA in the United Dave; and when I first met him he was living in Hawaii, now California, but racing the 76 Honey Bee on the east coast.
He grew up in Binghamton and was one of the BARC Boys. Recently he told Aashish and me that he had raced for BMW for a few years before the factory got involved and pulled the rug out from under the sponsor.
So I was at the Keene Hill Climb Reunion last week. Yesterday Dave sent an email (I was copied) indicating that his very first "race" was the Keene Hill Climb in 1963.
What a small world.

JB - you can enable it in your User Control Panel if you want to receive notifications. Their plan is to eventually move away from PMs and use another way of alerting.

Gilly had sent that tip in to Jalopnik and Ferrari changed it right away as soon as they got called out

In other news … The seat adjustment latch on the passenger seat is broken, and I have been unable to find a replacement part. So, in a moment of delusional optimism, I decided that I could fabricate a replacement. I was progressing fine, until it came time to bend the metal 180 degrees. I was stymied, but pressed on. With some heat, a vice and a ball peen hammer, I was able to bend the metal. Latch is still very rough, but here is the result so far. The comparison is to the latch on the driver's side.

SOLO Nationals were in Lincoln Nebraska earlier this month. I’m going to the Time Trials Nationals in Kentucky. Will be on the road 48 hours from now. Got a coat of wax on the car yesterday as it is expected to rain all the way there.
