Here's a cool gift I got

Kobalt Double Drive Ratcheting Screwdriver

It works just like a normal ratcheting screwdriver until you hold onto the blue collar
Once you hold that collar still the screwdriver tip turns in one direction, regardless if you are turning the handle clockwise or counter clockwise
This gives you twice the amount of tightening or loosening action when you turn the handle
I'm not sure it will handle a lot of load like this, but at the start of threading a screw/bolt when there is little resistance it really speeds up the action and cuts the wrist turning action in half

Check it out - Youtube video

What lenses did you get?

Have you by chance owned a Nikon SLR before?

I'm in the Canon Camp, I had 2 different SLRs before I got my Canon DSLR
I know Nikon is like Canon in the fact that you can use many of the SLR lenses on the DSLR body
The focal length (strength of lens) changes to your advantage so it's kinda cool
As an example my old SLR 80-300mm zoom lens now on my DSLR is a 128-480mm zoom

Don't worry about it!
The holiday is different for everybody
I for one still exchange gifts with my Mom and niece and think that's just fine
And I happen to really enjoy hearing about what cool stuff people got
I agree as well. Thanks to all who offered help.

For Christmas, Sarah bought me a dilemma.

I'll explain more later. For now you have to deal with my cryptic hint.

Christmas with the in-laws yesterday. Who wants some candy? At last count, we have 5 boxes of chocolate...one is a two pounder!

Guess we won't have any problem staying awake while we drive to Pennsylvania to use our gas cards.

Think next year we'll just send everybody cards...post cards from a cruise ship.

Cone, for years, I've threatened to leave town for the holidays. It's never happened yet, likely won't. We have simplified much of the celebrating, so it's not so demanding any more.

Anyway, back to topic. I received the marco lens. LOVE it. I still have plenty to learn about but I know I want to get up close and personal with flowers, bugs and garden critters.

Trying out the lens around the Christmas tree (which came down today).

Someday I do indeed plan to just pack up and go away, to Jamaica
But it will only happen after my Mom passes away as there is just no way I could not be around for the holiday for her

Same here, and oh how much better it is!
This was one of the most relaxing Christmases I can ever remember.

Whatever you do, Don't go to Jamaca. They kill tourists down there!

I've never been to Jamaca for a reason! For a remote get away, the beaches in Brazil are fine.

Other good places: Barbados, British Virgin Islands, St Vincent & Grenedines.

I hear St Lucia is nice now - when I went in 1984 everyone carried Machettes
