Anyone had experience with Harbor Freight Tools? I've never tried them but the prices seem unbelievable. Is the stuff mostly Chinese junk or can you cull some reliable pieces there?

Prices are very good but always remember you get what you pay for. Ive bought from them a couple times knowing id only be using the items once or twice. YMMV.

I've looked around in the store here a few times. From what I've seen, "Chinese junk" would be their top-of-the-line merchandise. A lot of their stuff is made in other developing countries that aspire to someday achieve the level of quality the Chinese turn out.

But they sometimes do have brand name merchandise purchased from a liquidator.

I agree with the others. There are some good things to be found, but most of the stuff isn't of the greatest quality. It just makes shopping there all that much more enjoyable (i.e., scrounging for the diamond in the rough).

Good stuff is like wheel dollies, 3/4" torque wrench, AC stuff and seal drivers, drain buckets, 1/2" drive air impact...

Some stuff is just melted down Chernobyl reactor slag...

Sears Craftsman tools are also made in China!

I agree with Jeff. I wouldn't buy anything with a motor. The torque wrench I bought seems to be of good quality. I want to buy their aluminium air pressure tank.

But right now, I'm wanting this: #46604

Or else 91315.

46604 not only has a motor, it's a 220V motor...

There are some deals to be had, but like others have said, you have to sift through the junk.

I'm very happy with my ball joint separator, aluminum racing jack, motorcycle wheel chock, and I've owned two small trailers from them that were great.

I had a cordless impact wrench that was good when it worked, but died after three seasons of autocross. Wasn't too upset. It was less than $75 with a coupon. Good, name brand cordless impacts are more like $250.

I have the wheel dollies, ok but the wheels have the holes drilled off center. HTF do you do that??? They are cast iron and can be opened up on center and bushed if needed. My neighbor has the small arbor press they sell and it has been ok. Like everyone else has said, you have to sort through the crap. Use your head.
