Whose been to Vegas? What are some must do things when there?
Got a trip to Vegas as one of my birthday gifts from my gf. Never been there before so wondering if anyone has and if so what are some must see places or attractions? Will be doing some gambling but not too much hopefully. Not too big on clubs or anything either.
Hope to take a helicopter tour to grand canyon but besides that not too sure what we should do yet. Seems to be infinite things to do there!! |
Sounds like you are in the same boat as I am. I'm not big into clubs and only gamble a little for entertainment. That said, I have been to Vegas twice and have enjoyed it each time. I don't know if I'd call anything a "must see". I was content just walking the strip and going into each casino. There are casino boats where I live, but the scale of the casinos out there is immense. Sort of hard to describe. Probably makes me a stereotypical tourist, but I like the themed casinos like the Venition and Paris. There a few free things that are interesting, and considering they are free, there is really nothing to lose. In no particular order...
Bellagio fountains Treasure Island pirate battle Mirage volcano Bascially almost every casino has something that they use to draw people in. MGM Grand had lions, Mirage had tigers, the list goes on. I think 2002 was the last time I was there, so I believe there are several new casinos since I have been there. Have fun. |
Never been there with my significant other but I've been there 9 times since turning 21. Def walk the strip and collect as many porno cards as you can, maybe shoot some guns (fully automatics!), you could rent exotic cars, dune buggying is fun (done that once), visit all the casinos. Caesar's Palace has a nice little mall, Wynn has Ferrari store (but you have to pay to go in), fat burgers.
|
Nice. Yeah seems overwhelming with the things to do there! I'm staying at the MGM Grand. Was going to do the red canyon exotic car tour thing but they were booked or couldn't guarantee I could drive the Ferrari which I wanted to so not sure if I will or not yet.
Definitely will be checking out the different hotels. Stratosphere looks cool as well with some of the rides on top. |
Watch it around the strat place is a little hood over there now a days, when I was there deff a lot more sketchy. My buddy who lives in vegas told me the same thing. Going with a gf you can have a great time, but you can deff get your self in a lot more trouble and fun without one :suspect:

wet republic :tipwink:
|
have you ever been to the west coast? i enjoy the food more than anything lol
|
Never been to west coast yet either.
|
Cirque du Soleil Zumanity , best experience I had in Vegas.
|
Take a tour of the Hoover Dam.
|
eat at in and out burger
|
Think the grand canyon tour I'm doing also stops at the Hoover dam.
In and out burger is definitely on my list! |

rent an s2000 and go out to red rock canyon (15 min drive) there about 200 bucks a day but was great... was actually why I came home and bought one :) p.s. if you do plug vtec sensor back in mine wouldn't go into vtec they disable it so you don't beat on the car lol. plus you can see some of the outskirts of the city not just the strip for a day, since you have a rental.
rides on top of the strat are great also new york new york has a great ride. the freemont st experence is cool it's the old part of vegas just interesting to go down there for a night and walk around for a few hours, and have dinner. all the free stuff is great as mentioned above. the ferrari dealer in wynn (I believe)offers tours and has some great cars worth stopping in imo. if you have extra money the number of shows you can go to is endless..... can you tell I have a time share in vegas and have been a lot. :) |
Thanks for the tips.
Think I will be doing an exotic car tour. $400 for 3 hours and get to drive 3 supercars including the 458 Italia. Can do their the red rock canyon tour or the Hoover dam tour with the cars. |
if you are with your GF the hookers are out, not sure what else you do there :suspect:
I did big dig there, rent a bulldozer or excavator, dig holes push dirt around, whatever you want. Rent supercars and drive them to hoover, drive three up, three back. doing that next time i go. Also a place to drift, go to a perfect shave, have somone shave your mug each morning - very cool i hate shaving. |
Del taco is good too I'd compare the drive thru Chinese food to mll food court Chinese.... I'd get in and out double animal style, del taco, and Steak n shake but they just opened one in NY in January
|
Holy crap don't take your GF to vegas and eat fast food... So many great places to eat.

The Ferrari store is free, to see the Ferraris isn't and it can be difficult to find. If you like Ferrari clothing, visit a Puma store (official supplier for Ferrari).
City Center Mall is cool. Fashion Mall has a Puma store. Definitley do Freemont St one evening. We walked into a Doors show there and it was like everyone there was on acid and I crashed their party. Look for the zip-line there too, pretty cool. Don't stay down that way too late, it gets kinda' shady.. :suspect: Hash House a Go-Go for a huge breakfast, lunch or dinner, it's in the Imperial Palace. Up one flight of stairs. If you have a car, Babystacks for breakfast, it's worth the short ride. My link FUKU Burger is a food truck that has some good crack sauce. The wife and I had never had been to an In-n-Out either. Animal Fries, they aren't on the menu, ask for them. And of course, Hoover Dam. https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5205/...2a02ff52_z.jpg https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5283/...f97b24d5_z.jpg https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5167/...3de5a3bb_z.jpg https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5164/...7ef79c95_z.jpg How about finding this at one of those scenic overlooks on our way to the Hoover Dam. Someone made this for the sole purpose of fukcing up someone elses day. https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5245/...a28fa082_z.jpg |

How long are you going for? I usually go out there for 7-10 days at a time. I gamble for a couple, then go sight see for a couple, then come back and gamble before going home. Red Rock Canyon is great for hiking (or take the scenic tour in your car. Don't speed though it's patrolled like whoa!). Hoover Dam tour is great and hiking at the Grand Canyon is phenomenal.
It's also only about a 2 hour drive out to Death Valley too. Someone here mentioned it, the rides on top of the Stratosphere are awesome. I bought the all you can ride pass for $40 and went nuts with a buddy for an evening. Great times. -Mike |
hit up some pool parties during the day.

Im actually going to LA and Vegas in 2 weeks and was looking into renting a sports or exotic car. I was thinking of renting a cool car to do the drive from LA to Vegas.

Yeah I was about to sign up for that but reading you definitely don't get to open them up at which really sucks. Would still be cool being in them but would be insanely frustrating not being able to go wot in them.
|
I went to the Grand Canyon/Hoover Dam/Joshua Tree tour while I was in Vegas. It was awesome. I also enjoyed walking around the streets with a drink in my hand haha

PCH North until you hit Mulholland Dr, then, make a right and make your passenger sick. Stop at The Rock Store, pet the dog, he will try to steal your food, in my case, it was a cookie. Watch the exotics and motorcycles tear up the twisties, you might even see some longboarders bombing down the mountain. |
Cool, any other suggestions?

Sea Mist Rentals $8.99/day Tandems too. CA$H Only!!!! (310) 395-7076 1619 Ocean Front Walk, Santa Monica, CA 90401 and ride bicycle up to Venice Beach (it's kinda like a Dead show everyday) on the designated bicycle path. Stop at the skatepark, muscle beach, and check out the canals of Venice. Stop and see Dr. Kush is you're so inclined. Do this the morning before your Mulholland Dr. trip. Been to lots of SoCal beach towns, if thats what you like, I got more suggestions. |
I rented the s right on the strip, they also have street bikes if you have a motorcycle licence. http://www.lasvegas.net/Dream-Car-Rentals.htm there prices have come down a lot since I last went.

Stratosphere looks like some fun rides so will probably go there another day and really want to check out the venician, ny ny and the Paris hotel briefly. |

Also must do: -Dune buggys in the desert -Shoot full auto guns (your girl will thank you after, and dont go to "the gun store" theres a much cheaper place a few blocks from PALMS) -Rent Jet Skis or boat at hoover dam -The breakfast place "Hash House a Go Go" -Ferrari rental at las vegas motor speedway (well worth the $$) Tour the Ford Shelby factory while there -Hang out at Cosmopolitan and Hard Rock -There's zip lines that we didnt get to do and Red Rock canyon -If you want to rent a nice car at a reasonable rate go to Enterprise Exotics near the airport and ask for "Ches" -Ask your cab driver about the best buffets -Chocolate store at New Orleans hotel That's all I can think of right now |
The only must do thing in Vegas for me when I go is to win
|
I didn't do a whole lot of winning unfortunately lol. Was up for a little bit then went downhill quick!
Biggest loss was how much I spent on food! Think I blew over a grand on food in 4 days. |
hookers
