Slightly more prosaic, with all such calls I just interject with "Sorry, not interested. Goodbye" and hang up.
No point in abuse the guy on the other end is just a low paid foot servant desperately earning sh*t money.

Normally I'd agree, but when they are clearly involved in a well-known conspiracy to defraud, they deserve Max Approbation's tirade.

I recently 'played along' with someone on the phone who purported to be calling from the HSBC who i bank with. The chap on the phone had a strong foreign accent and was trying to get me to give some of my security details away. Ultimately, i refused to talk to him, said i thought he was a scammer and hung up.

A few hours later i got a secure message from HSBC asking me to call them. It transpired I'd forgotten to pay my credit card bill, and they were ringing to remind me....

No, they are criminals who prey on the elderly and easily confused.

They deserve a slow and painful death.

When I become home secretary, I'm going to abolish and close down all the prisons. Then introduce a three strikes and out system where the offenders are injected with some painful terminal disease, refused all benefits and NHS treatment, have a tracking device implanted and a huge tattoo on their forehead, stating their crime. I would reinstate the oubliette for more serious offenses.

Is this a little OTT?

I told one guy the police took my computer when they raided me and took all my kiddie porn. He was speechless.
