Default (Commercial) Buildings Insurance Policy

I and my neighbours binned our factor several years ago and now self-manage our block of flats. As part of this, we buy a single buildings insurance policy which I believe is considered a commercial policy.

This year's renewal note from our broker recommends we switch from Allianz to Zurich for a like for like policy at £1,158, slightly less than we paid Allianz last year. The broker's note includes Insurance Tax at £69 and a "Fee" of £100.

I looked through my paperwork - I had a big clearout and threw everything out that was more than three years old - and saw that in my correspondence for the 13-14 renewal, they agreed to waive their £40 fee (implying I asked them to do so) but in 14-15 they charged, and we paid, the same £40.

£100 now feels like they're chancing their arm and hoping I won't notice, but in any event, don't they make their money from the commission they earn from the policy provider? Does anyone have any experience of insurance brokers' fees in similar situations?

Exactly, and a counterproductive thing for them to do, as it only damages any trust that may have existed.
