QNAP
my 209 with twin 1TB drives has been going 24/7 for over 4 years now with no issues
I sold my 109 and wish I hadn't. I do want something that works with utorrent though.

I've been following this thread with interest as my crappy Buffalo NAS has died. I like the look of QNAP TS-453 Pro as it does pretty much everything I want, from media sharing, remote access, web hosting and security monitoring. I probably wouldn't have gone with QNAP but the positive reviews here and online have made me think twice.

I had buffalo too, shat.

The Synology was better and had all the bells and whistles but their support took 5 days to get in touch on a known issue and loads of devices have failed which tells its own story imo

A colleague swears by Synology and rips a lot of data constantly. I was going down the same route initially but I think I'll try this now.

New Synology arrived today so 16 days failure to new unit. Not ideal if used for commercial purposes.

In fairness they were fairly quick once they engaged and gave me a return auth, it then took a few days via parcelslownand they dispatched new next day

Current weather will kill home data storage all over the country. Wouldn't be surprised if one of mine crocks.

I have a QNAP NAS 2 drive array - with a USB as a backup plugged into the NAS, that backs up the NAS nightly...Total cost of about £460 - which when you price how much HDD recovery is if it is mechanical failure - there isn't much change from £500!

USB drive?

i have a 1TB but my NAS is 2 x 4TB (RAID so only 4TB storage)

it was pretty seamless getting it all back running, took maybe 20 mins including it updating itself etc
